About Chameleon City

Hello and a massive thank you for viewing our website.

We set up Chameleon City in the November 2009 with the aim of sharing our hobby with everyone. This website is designed by us to provide information on the different Chameleons and Crested Geckos in our collection as pets and in our breeding programme.

A bit about Sophie...

My interest in animals started as far back as I can remember, at just 2 years old I told mum and dad that I wanted to become an Animal Doctor. My first pets were two gerbils - Bubbles and Squeak - and despite being just 5 years old I looked after them like royalty. I later had a range of animals from hamsters to rabbits and my first dog at 6 years old. I continued to love learning about the different wonderful animals of the world and in 1995 I convinced my parents that I was ready for first reptile. After reading up on a lot of information I finally become the proud owner of a bearded dragon named Spike. Spike was later joined by Cheeky and Angel two other Bearded dragons.  Sadly a few years later Cheeky and Spike both passed away within 2 months of each other, so a new boy called Boz was added. I successfully bred Angel and Boz over the next 5 years having almost 500 eggs and all except two hatched. Angel passed away in 2007 at 11 years old.  Boz is still with us and has just turned 14 years in Feb. My love for animals has continued and in 2008 I graduated as a fully qualified Veterinary Surgeon. My graduation present to my self was a Panther chameleon.

I now work as a full time Vet in Newport, South Wales.

A bit about Becky...

I have had an interest in reptiles for many years but only acted upon this interest in the summer of 2008, when our main collection started. We have kept our collection to two species, Chameleons and Crested Geckos. I find that Chameleons are extremely addictive, I can sit for hours watching them and handling them. There is something quite therapeutic about coming home and sitting in a room amongst all the greenery and some amazing animals. Although it is Soph with all the animal background it was my self that chose our first Chameleon. A lovely female Yemen that we called Venus. She is my little girl and holds a special place in my heart. Venus was also our first Chameleon that we mated and she successfully laid 69 eggs. Along with Sophs' experience and knowledge I am rapidly become quite knowledgeable my self, and am able to give out most advice with confidence.

 Becky :)
